Meet The Tangney Family

Laura Tangney

Corporate Director

Laura is a proud fifth-generation member of the Tangney Family Dynasty. Growing up in Killarney Town, a vibrant hub of tourism, Laura’s early life was shaped by her parents’ local enterprises, including the Watercoach, Jaunting Car Tours and a large guesthouse. Immersed in the world of hospitality from a young age, it was only natural that tourism became her calling during her college years.

Having graduated with flying colours, Laura embarked on a career as a Sales & Marketing Manager within the hospitality sector before returning to take the reins of the family business alongside her two brothers Michael & Paul. Nowadays, her focus remains on the marketing side of the business where she looks after the booking and commercialism of the tours.

In her spare time, Laura loves to take advantage of all the beauty that Killarney has to offer by walking or spending time with her family in the Killarney National Park.

Michael Tangney

Commercial Director

Being fifth generation in a long line of great tourism and business minds has always given Michael a natural affinity for the business. Like Laura, growing up watching and witnessing first-hand the entrepreneurial spirit of both his parents, gave young Michael a solid grounding for the tourism industry as well as an opportunity to learn the tools of his trade.

Michael has always approached his work with a hands-on attitude and still to this day loves to get involved in all aspects of the day to day running of the business, from organising bespoke tours in the office to getting his hands dirty with the upkeep and training of the horses. He especially loves the opportunity the business affords him to meet different people from all over the world.

Paul Tangney

Operations Director

The eldest of the Tangney Family and the first face of the fifth generation, Paul began working with his father Michael Senior on the Jaunting Cars from a very young age. Through the years, Paul has seen the business flourish from a singular carriage operation to one of Ireland’s best loved guided tour experiences.

Today Paul is still part of the hands-on team, driving his own Jaunting Car, where he has built up many strong business relationships and made lifelong friends within the industry. Paul loves being at the forefront of the business and the opportunity it gives him to welcome guests back to Killarney, some of which he would have taken out as a youngster.

As well as his driving duties, Paul is passionate about horses and enjoys taking responsibility for the welfare of the animals as well as looking after the sourcing and breeding of the stock for the business.

In his spare time, Paul is still involved with horses, from hacking out with his children on the farm, to attending show jumping events with his youngest son. Paul also likes to travel in his downtime.

Calvin Tangney

Jarvey & Stable Manager

Sixth generation of the Tangney Family, Calvin, Paul’s eldest son, is a 20-year-old currently pursuing a BSc in Accounting at UCC. Known for his sociable nature, quick wit and old-fashioned Irish charm, Calvin is a natural conversationalist who thrives on connecting with people. Whether he’s out in the park engaging with tourists or contributing to the family business, his enthusiasm shines through.

A skilled organiser and team leader, Calvin brings character and a touch of humour to everything he does. Deeply passionate about the family business, he enjoys playing an active role in its success while balancing his academic pursuits.

Lewis Tangney

Jarvey & Horse Trainer

Lewis, Paul’s youngest son, is an 18-year-old finishing secondary school this year. A true horse enthusiast and winner of ‘Young Jockey of the Year in 2024’, Lewis spends his spare time hunting, show jumping and riding out racehorses. His natural talent and exceptional horsemanship are apparent in every aspect of his equestrian pursuits.

Known as the joker of the family, Lewis’s infectious personality and cheeky grin light up every room. With plans to pursue a Green Cert agricultural course in the evenings, he’s eager to balance his passion for horses with a future in farming.
